Each workshop has a specific theme that offers parents, carers and educators both a similar understanding of child development and a sharing space for questions and solutions.
The Family Training Center is an innovative concept in Portugal based on the founder’s experiences in the UK (both as a Psychologist and a parent), where schools offer small workshops to parents with guidelines to support homework and learning in general which are led by nurses and facilitators. In our team, all facilitators are experienced psychodynamic counsellors and share a deep understanding of family and child development.
Each workshop has a specific theme and a theoretical underpinning that offers parents, carers and educators both a similar understanding of child development and a sharing space for questions and solutions. Previous experience in a school setting has shown that this leads to an improvement in communication between parents and school educators.
A partnership with the FTC is a continuous process which facilitates structured psychodynamic thinking when relating to children. Each school should choose the most appropriate pack for its specific needs, but each pack will offer:
Workshops for parents (theory plus practice)
Workshops for teachers and teaching assistants (theory plus practice)
Tutoring for teachers and teacher assistants (following children they select)
